HYROX Youngstars is a new race format specifically designed for 8-15 years, with a simple mission; to inspire and invest in the next generation of athletes. Built from the foundations of the adult event, HYROX Youngstars blends running with strength and coordination exercises from functional training, to create a dynamic introduction to sport in a safe, inclusive and fun environment.
It’s more than just competition. HYROX Youngstars is rooted in grassroots sport; building confidence, encouraging participation and giving young people a platform to challenge themselves, be active and enjoy movement.
If you’re looking for an experience for the whole family, this one’s for you. Whether you’ve taken part in a HYROX event before or you’re discovering it through your child’s eyes for the first time, get ready to be part of an inspiring weekend of youth sport.
The exercise stations are:
- SkiErg – Pull on the ski ergometer until the full distance is reached.
- Sled Push – Push the sled across the marked distance the sled 25m, starting completely behind the line.
- Sled Pull – Pull the sled across the marked distance, moving steadily backwards until the sled crosses the finish line completely.
- Burpee Broad Jump | Frogger Jumps – For Age 10+ Chest-to-floor burpee, followed by a long jump, landing with both feet simultaneously. For the 8-9 Years we jump like a frog.
- Rowing – Complete the distance on the rowing machine, zeroed before start.
- Farmers Carry – Carry weight on each hand and walk the designed distance.
- Lunges – Step forward into a deep lunge until the back knee briefly touches the floor. Both legs must alternate while covering the given distance.
- Wall Balls | Squats – Squat hips below the knee to touch the box, for ages 12+ then throw the ball at the given target.
To protect and support children’s development, HYROX Youngstars follows an age-specific format with tailored workouts for each stage.
Please note: the child’s age on race day determines their category — not the age during ticket booking.

- To ensure that children are successfully reunited with their guardian, the legal guardian must pick them up in the finish zone area after the race.
- Please read the Safeguarding Principles below carefully before the event!
- Checking in under a wrong name or on behalf of someone else is not allowed.
- It is only possible to check in on the day you are competing.
Key Safeguarding Principles — Keeping Every Youngstar Safe!
At our event, safety comes first – every time, for every child.
Here’s how we make sure each Youngstar is checked in, supported, and reunited with the right guardian.
General Instructions:
- Every child needs to attend the event with their guardian that has been entered in the booking process. If the legal guardian originally planned (stated on the legal guardian ticket) is not able to attend anymore, this person needs to write a power of attorney to pass on the responsibility to this new person
- No child is ever released to an unverified guardian.
- The legal guardian needs to authorise themselves with the ticket QR-code from the booking process and their ID.
- No guardians or other adults are allowed inside the secured areas reserved for athletes and Youngstars staff.
- If your child needs to withdraw from the race before or during it, please inform a Youngstars staff member so that we can keep a record of it.
- If you experience any issues onsite or notice any suspicious situations/people, please contact the Help Desk in the registration area where a Safeguarding member of staff will be able to help!
Child Check-In
This is where the race excitement begins!
- The participating child should come to registration with their Youngstars ticket QR code together with their legal guardian, who must have a valid ID with them.
- We will scan the QR code to check that the legal guardian’s details on the ID match those provided during online registration.
- During the Check-In process the child and the legal guardian will have their start number written on their forearm, be given a wristband and receive the timing chip that the child must wear during the race.
Important: A child can only enter the secure athlete zone after check-in and chip assignment are completed. Please allow at least 60 minutes before the scheduled start time to check in, warm up, and familiarise yourself with the race course.
Child Check-Out
Reuniting families after watching their child participate in a successful and fun race is a highlight – with safety as our main priority.
- Guardians should arrive at the pick-up point in the finish zone after their child has crossed the finish line.
- Our Youngstars staff will scan the athlete’s ticket QR code again to find the child’s and guardian’s details.
- We will then check that the start numbers match and confirm the name of the legal guardian before releasing the child to them. We will officially record the handover in the system with a timestamp.
- Please do not leave the venue or race track until you have collected your child at the end of the race. If you have to leave for an emergency and your child is mid race please do let a member of the safeguarding staff know immediately (or go to the help desk).
- If your child finishes the race and a guardian is not present we will undertake our safeguarding procedures.
